COLLEGE APPLICATION MONTH | WHY IT MATTERS TO STUDENTS
Applying to college marks the beginning of a journey that requires persistence and focus. As such, completing and submitting a college application can seem overwhelming.
College Application Month is a nationwide initiative that encourages students to make plans for and apply to college.
A Georgetown University study found that 59 percent of all jobs will require a post-secondary degree in 2018. Others studies have revealed that only three out of 10 Delaware ninth graders will make it to their second year of college.
Our elected and appointed state officials share a sense of urgency in the state of Delaware to better prepare students by equipping them with the tools they need to realize their college capabilities.
Delaware College Application Month is a key component in preparing Delaware students for future success.
Delaware Governor John Carney summarized this by saying:
“At a time when education beyond high school is more important than ever, we have too many students who limit their options for the future by not applying to college. A lot of students, particularly those who could be the first in their family to go to college, need an extra push to find the school or training opportunity that’s best for them. That’s what Delaware College Application Month is all about.”
